Finally the source code for "Jack Claw" for Linux and Mac is out!

Just weeks after Frozenbyte did the "Humble Frozenbyte Bundle" which started on 12. April and had the prototype game "Jack Claw" with assets and source code for Windows inside today on the 23. May the source code for Linux and Mac showed up. This code is ported by Alternative Games (http://alternativegames.net/) just like the one for the Shadowgrounds series and for Trine.

Der Mai ist da.


Das lang ersehnte eCafe ex HD (http://www.hercules.com/de/ecafe/bdd/p/156/ecafe-trade-ex-hd-black-/) hat bisher nicht das Licht des Tages entdeckt.
Schade.

Die Statistik zum Humble Frozenbyte Bundle zeigt leider u.a. nur wie viel Einnahmen von jeder Platform kommen. Deswegen habe ich mir mal kurz eine kleine Tabelle kreiert und dort mit ungefair anzeigen lassen, wie es mit der Anzahl der Käufe pro Platform aussieht.

Im Humble Frozenbyte Bundle ist der Prototyp "Jack Claw" samt Source Code enthalten. Einer Portierung auf Systeme, wie Mac und Linux steht also nichts im Wege. Laut http://frozenbyte.com/blog/?p=176 ist schon einiges dafür im Code enthalten:

The first updates will be mouse/keyboard support and Mac/Linux ports. Most of which are actually already done but we still need to test them a bit more to make sure we can publish them.

und auf http://frozenbyte.com/jackclaw/jack_minisite.php findet sich der Hinweis, dass schon bald Versionen für Mac und Linux erscheinen werden.

Ich habe schon mal eine Projektseite angelegt und den Code drauf gepackt:

Musik, Grafik, Models etc. sind nicht enthalten und müssen bei bedarf selbst erworben werden. Zur Zeit ist dies mit dem Humble Frozenbyte Bundle sehr günstig möglich. Eine weitere Variante ist freier Inhalt. Dieser muss allerdings erst erschaffen werden.

Die ersten Schritte wären wahrscheinlich ein passendes BuildSystem um den Code zu legen. CMake hat sich für CrossPlatform bei mir als relativ praktikabel erwiesen. Anschließend dürfte die Portierung anstehen.

Jeder darf mit machen und ist herzlich Willkommen :D

Splot ist noch in Entwicklung und wird erst freigegeben, wenn es entsprechend fertig gestellt ist.
Jack Claw ist "nur" ein Prototyp. Dabei ist der Code mit freigegeben und kann so verändert und angepasst werden. Eine Mac und Linux Version ist entsprechend der Community überlassen.
(Interesse dies zu portieren hätte ich schon. Mal schauen, was die Zeit in nächster Zeit zulässt und wie sehr sich bis dahin andere schon darauf gestürzt haben.)
Wie bei den ersten beiden Humble Bundles darf der Preis wieder selber festgelegt werden. Und ebenfalls gibt es wieder Windows, Mac und Linux-Version zum downloaden. Der Download kann von der Humble Bundle Webseite getätigt werden, oder über Torrent oder Steam oder Desura oder OnLive. Man erhält zu allem Zugang.

Eigentlich wollte ich ja schon längst ein Ball mit Physik springen lassen, doch verschiedene Dinge haben sich mir dabei in den Weg gestellt.
Um nicht so viel schreiben zu müssen, wollte ich es mal mit einem Screencast versuchen. Verschiedene Software, wie xvidcap und record-my-desktop lieferten allerdings nicht die gewünschte Qualität, bzw. brachten überhaupt nur unbrauchbares Material heraus.
